Intsra waterfall

Intsra waterfall is not one of the most visited in Georgia probably due to its remote place. This spot far from the crowd is surprising, its beauty and exoticism are well worth the trip ! 

From Mukhuri there are less than 25 kilometers to the village of Chkvaleri where the trail starts. 

Take the direction of Tsalenjikha and turn right at the intersection to follow the way of Sachino and Chkvaleri. From Sachino, the road becomes very bad. Continue about ten kilometers following the white signs indicating the waterfall.
At the entry of Chvaleri village, you will find hiking signs indicating a path down on your right which will lead you to the beginning of the trail.

It is possible to get there with any car but if you can we recommend a jeep for your comfort. It is a 1h15min trip from Mukhuri.

Depending on where you will park your car, there are about 2 kilometers to reach the waterfall. It is an easy walk, nevertheless it is necessary to be vigilant, especially on the last part of the trail which leads you to the top of the waterfall and which is not secured.

You will walk about one hour following the river then climbing a small hill and sinking into the forest. The abundant moss and the transparent river give to this place something mysterious and magical !

Before reaching the main waterfall, you can enjoy smaller ones.

From the main waterfall, you can continue a path up above and discover a cave from where the river flows.

We took this path in mid-May there was nobody, the path was not always clear but still accessible. Be careful if you are with children, some parts are not secured and stones are sometimes slippery .

It is a perfect one-day-excursion. Do not forget to bring something to eat and drink because you will not find anything there !
